Reflection #4 - Final Individual CD Course Ref.

Final Individual CD Course Ref.

This was a very useful course because it enhanced my understanding of cultures diversity. I would have known about these issues without these classes. I particularly enjoyed the classes that had group presentations about ethnocentrism & that talking about the UAE’s cosmopolitan culture. I also liked the one about power distance. It is important for students to know about the cultures, so that can respond to the different nationalities that they enjoy. I think that the earlier that people experience other cultures the better but this has to be a positive experience.

The most interesting thing I learned was has different cultures respond different ways in general terms to different situations. If the UAE had a harmony day a good date to pick would be the 3rd December so it would be continues celebration after National day. This would be an inclusive event. This could be celebration by allowing staff to wear the national custom at work.

Therefore, this was a great opportunity by learn about other cultures and to understand their idiosyncrasies.

Final Presentation (First Two Powerpoint Slides)

Blog Exercise 10B:

What else has the UAE done to try to ensure human rights for its workers and to stop human trafficing? Why is this important for the (your) government to take this stand??

The United Arab Emirates to the protection of workers dramatically and concern for the rights of workers within the United Arab Emirates where he developed the state a lot of laws to protect workers where he developed the law obliging all companies to open an account in the banks and the banks of the workers for the protection of workers' salaries and put the law not to work in the afternoon in the summer and the most important thing state when some workers are doing tricks of the temporary contractual workers that the UAE receives every year from across the world are deceived by labor recruitment agencies and become victims of human trafficking. For the majority of trafficked persons, it is only when they arrive in the UAE that they realise that the work they were promised does not exist and they are forced instead to take up employment in other jobs or under conditions to which they did not give consent . Since the deceit begins before the workers leave their home countries, the importance of partnering with source and transit countries is now paramount to the UAE's strategy.

Because it required all people to abide by laws and respect their lead to make the country stable, secure and raise the prestige of the state in the global protection of human rights

Blog Exercise 10A

I am shocked that slaves still do exist in almost every continent in the world and have increased significantly in number since the past. This is so because humans have no choice but to survive in other countries due to their country being poor and therefore go to extremes to leave their countries either through migrating as residents looking for a better life.

Unfortunately I remorseful when I watched today's video in how human beings have been treated in terms of the accommodation that was provided to them, being mislead by their country's recruitment agency (by promising them a higher salary) and after all this not even receiving their hard earned salary.

In my opinion I think that the main entities that can fix the above mentioned issues are the two governments (The Indian and Qatari governments). For example, Qatar can set conditions in which accommodation is as per international standards and to insure that the law is implemented in terms of employees/laborers receive their salary on a monthly basis. As for India the government should set a penalty to all the recruitment agencies that practice scam.

I have finished the survey and it shows that 45 slaves that work for me.

If you prick us do we not bleed? If you tickle us do we not laugh? If you poison us do we not die? And if you wrong us shall we not revenge? If we are like you in the rest, we will resemble you in that. If a Jew wrong a Christian, what is his humility? Revenge. If a Christian wrong a Jew, what should his sufferance be by Christian example? Why, revenge. The villainy you teach me I will execute, and it shall go hard but I will better the instruction.
5.    Look at the two maps of ethnocentric Americans and ethnocentric Indians.
